Suppose you're starting a new review cycle at your company and you want to use the same goals from previous cycles. Instead of creating new goals from scratch, you can clone any of the previous goals with a single click for your upcoming cycle.
To clone a particular goal,
Step 1: Within the goals module, choose the goal that you wish to clone from the list of goals. You can toggle between your goals, company-wide goals and your team’s goals based on the access control settings of your organisation.
Step 2: On selecting the goal, the Details panel should open up.
Click on the Ellipsis icon towards the top left of the goal title and select the Make a Clone option from the drop-down menu.
Cloning can result in one of two cases:
Case 1: The goal being cloned does not have a child goal
In this case, you will simply be asked to confirm your choice to clone the goal. Click on Continue and you can find your cloned goal, titled “Copy of <Original goal title>” at the bottom of the list. You can search for the goal by searching for the name of the original goal.
Case 2: The goal being cloned has one or more child goals
If the goal has one or more child goals (objectives or key results), users will receive a prompt:
You can choose whether you wish to:
- Not clone all child goals → This will clone only the parent goal
- Clone only child objectives → This will clone only the child objectives aligned to the goal
- Clone both child objectives and goals → This will clone the entire tree of child objectives and goals aligned to the parent goal.
Confirm your choice by selecting the Confirm option.
Your goal will be cloned and can be found at the bottom of the list with the title “Copy of <Original goal title>”.
